Coming up at Holy Apostles

Advent

Advent is a church season of preparation and anticipation as we await the Incarnation. It is a good to time commit ourselves to a spiritual practice – daily prayer and reflection, reading the bible, joining a reading group, coming to evening prayers. Often it is when are lives are most busy as they are during this season that we most need to take time to pause. Join us this season for one of our many offerings.

Read or listening to our daily Advent Reflections. This Advent our focus is on the Book of Isaiah, which alongside Mary, Isaiah is one of the bookends of Advent Season. The daily reflections are done by fellow parishioners and will come to your email every day if you subscribe to our emails or you can sign up listen to them as a podcast on our channel on Spotify, Apple Music: Holy Apostles Brooklyn Podcasts.

Giving to Music, Greens and Flowers

Fill our church with the delights of the season. We take great joy in decorating the church with all of the festive greens, lights and flowers.

We also augment our choir with professional singers to enhance the sounds of the season.

Please consider contributing here.

Meal Train for New Baby

Emmett, Nicolette and Cyprus welcomed a new baby to their family this past Friday, November 24. Her name is Marlow Emmeline Jupiter Findley.

As we all know, parenting is hard and it takes a village, particularly in the newborn stage. So please consider joining us on the Meal Train during this time of transition for them to a family of four.

Please click here to sign up to bring a meal to their family.

What is Meal Train?
There are times in our lives when friends and family ask, "What can I do to help out?" The answer is usually to help them with a meal. When many friends provide support through a meal, Meal Train keeps everyone organized.

Advent and Christmas at Holy Apostles

On the first Sunday in Advent, we will pray to God to give us the grace to cast away the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. With the coming of shortest day of the year and the long winter nights, we feel the darkness around us and many of us are struggling with depression, anxiety and stress. We can forget to ask God to help us see us through the darkness and point us to the light and the hope that we find in Jesus. Advent is a time in our church year that reminds us of God’s presence and the promise of new life, new hope in Jesus.

This year for Advent we are offering a combination of reflecting on scripture through our daily email and podcast, book groups, a concert and craft opportunities. We hope that all of these offerings will help us find peace, joy and hope.

Join us this Advent as we journey through the darkness and the wilderness to the light of Christ. Advent begins Sunday, December 3.
